Meet Alex, 16 and from Limerick. Alex has loved rugby for his whole life and played with the Munster development team. When we met with Alex, he told us about his wish to see the Irish rugby team in action. The team at Make-A-Wish were able to grant Alex’s wish on the last day of the Six Nation’s Championship 2024, where Alex and his parents attended the Ireland Vs Scotland match.

On Saturday March 16th, Alex and his parents travelled to Dublin via train, visiting a local Italian café for lunch. After lunch they made their way to their accommodation for the night - the Sandymount Hotel, located only a stone’s throw away from the Aviva Stadium. Here they enjoyed a selection of goodies, including a box of Krispy Kreme donuts, before making their way to the Aviva Stadium.

At this point the Irish rugby team had to play their part in granting Alex’s wish by putting on a show against Scotland. After a tense 80-minute battle, Alex and his parents were celebrating Ireland’s incredible win in an electric atmosphere inside the Aviva stadium. They cheered on as the Irish team were presented with their team’s medals and the Six Nations cup.

We are delighted to have granted such a special wish for Alex and would like to thank everyone involved in making this wish day so special including the Sandymount Hotel, The IRFU, Iarnród Éireann, Optimum Chauffeurs and Krispy Kreme.
