Sarah (15) from Dublin, recently had her wish granted to walk the catwalk at New York Fashion Week!
Sarah told us about her journey before she embarked on her wish; "I first was diagnosed with AML (a form of leukaemia) in January. It was a big shock, as there were no signs of sickness. When I found out, it was probably the scariest moment of my life, it was so unexpected.
I was in intensive treatment for six months, undergoing chemotherapy. Sometimes, when I was getting blood and platelet transfusions, I experienced some horrible reactions. I was constantly in bed and could barely eat.
The day I finished chemotherapy was the happiest day of my life, until I found out that I had developed a serious infection in my lungs called aspergillus. I had to undergo a six-hour operation to have part of my lung removed. I was scared, and didn't think I was going to make it out alive.
The operation was successful, though it took me a while to recover. But, here I am today, healthy as ever, embarking on my journey to New York with thanks to Make-A-Wish!"
