Learn about Make-A-Wish, shape your career direction through our series of Wish Leader videos and challenge new skills by holding a fundraising event.
The Wish Leader Programme helps prepare students for their future careers, all while learning about Make-A-Wish and supporting the charity with their own fundraising activity.
Your Wish Leader programme can be completed over a timeframe that best suits you and your class. We kindly ask every school to fundraise a minimum of €250 to partake in the Wish Leader programme and all schools who raise over €500 will receive a Wish Leader Trophy. All your donations will go directly to granting wishes to seriously ill children across Ireland.
Students will receive a workbook to complete during the programme on the following three assignments:
Learn about Make-A-Wish:
All teachers will receive videos about Make-A-Wish, including some amazing wishes being granted! Students will be asked to research Make-A-Wish online and we can also provide a talk to your class over zoom to learn even more about the cause. In your workbook, students can fill out what they have learned.
Wish Leader videos:
We will provide private access to nearly 40 videos from our Wish Leaders who talk about their own career path, how they got to where they are now and any obstacles along the way. Some of our Wish Leaders include Danny O’Reilly from The Coronas, Former Ireland and Ulster rugby star Tommy Bowe and Managing Director at Microsoft Cathriona Hallihan. After watching the Wish Leader videos, each student will reflect on leadership in their workbook.
Hold your fundraising event:
Put those leadership skills into action! As a class or group organise a fundraising event, delegate tasks and use your workbook to track each step needed to complete your event (Fundraising ideas included). The workbook also includes a reflection piece for students to write about what went well, what was challenging, and what skills they learned along the way.
