The new Aviva Stadium, which is due to be completed before the end of April 2010 has adopted the Make-A-Wish Foundation as its official charity partner. In doing so the stadium has undertaken to help the charity in its fundraising activities and to assist granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
To mark the occasion Ireland and Leinster Out Half, Jonathan Sexton, who is also a Make-A-Wish ambassador was on hand on behalf of the stadium with Nathan O’Grady (10) from Limerick. Nathan recently had his wish granted when he was mascot for the Irish Team in the Autumn International against Australia.
Speaking of the partnership Cailin Keaney, sales and marketing manager, Aviva Stadium, said. “We believe that the Make-A-Wish Foundation is an ideal partner and we look forward to working with them over the next two years. Not alone will we be attempting to help them grant magical wishes we will also be helping them in their fund-raising efforts. This year the Make-A-Wish Foundation ball, will be held in the Aviva Stadium on 18th September.
Speaking on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Susan O’Dwyer CEO said that “We are proud to become the Official Charity of the Aviva Stadium as this will help us to grant more magical wishes. Make-A-Wish depends wholly on the generosity of the Irish people and corporate community for donations.”
